Why Cold Brew coffee is so hot right now!

Published by Ashish Dabreoon June 18, 2021

The Cold Brew method of brewing coffee is a (fairly) recent phenomenon, and it has rapidly caught the imagination of many new age coffee drinkers. Often confused with ‘Cold Coffee’ or ‘Iced Coffee’ which is a kind of beverage in itself, Cold Brew is simply a brewing method. Cold Brew coffee can be made into Cold Coffee, but not all Cold Coffees are made from cold brew coffee. Confused? :) Read on! The most common method of extracting brewed coffee from roasted coffee powder involves water and high temperature. Because of the temperature of the water used, soluble coffee solids from the coffee bean dissolve in water and form brewed coffee, all in a matter of a few seconds to a couple of minutes.  With the Cold Brewing method, ground coffee is placed in cool water, and left to ‘brew’ over a period of 12 - 24 hours (some recipes...

What is Acidity when it comes to coffee

Published by Ashish Dabreoon June 7, 2021

Acidity in coffee is not a bad thing, it is in fact a desirable quality and some of the highest scoring coffees in the world have a sprightly lining of acidity in them. The word ‘acidity' in India unfortunately gets a lot of bad press. In most cases, when one thinks of acidity, there are associations with greasy, spicy food, antacids and curd rice.  Often we encounter customers who ask us to a recommend a coffee that 'does not have acidity’. What they (don’t know they) are saying is ‘I’d like you to recommend a coffee that does not have notes of pear, or apple thanks to malic acid. No aromas of mango or any stone fruit. No flavour of Musumbi or grapefruit or any other notes that are brought about because of citric acid, phosphoric acid, tartaric acid etc.’. To understand what you are missing when you don’t want...

Hello, We’re Maverick

We're one of India's few farm to cup coffee brands. Our 140 acre estate in Pollibetta, Coorg enables us to create some amazing experimental award-winning single estate coffees that we ship across india and the world. While activity on our coffee estate is at it's peak during the arabica coffee and robusta coffee harvest season - during the months of November to February - for the rest of the months we're busy nurturing, nourishing and pampering our coffee plants, ensuring that they in return give us some of the sweetest, brightest and most flavourful coffee fruit possible

Back at the coffee roastery in Bangalore we roast coffee on a daily basis to meet the huge demand from retail customers, restaurants, cafes, hotels and workspaces across India. Our coffee roasters are highly skilled with some having over 10 years of roasting experience (our core team founding India's first artisan coffee brand 'The Flying Squirrel coffee' in 2012).

Freshly roasted arabica coffee and robusta coffee and blended coffee is sent as coffee beans and coffee powder, ground and packed only on order. We ship our coffee across India (free shipping) and are proud to have thousands of satisfied customers who are kicked about our Maverick approach to coffee. The fourth wave of coffee is here!
